Drums – Percussion

Matt Gray is a seasoned drummer with 43 years of experience in playing, touring, and recording. His journey in the music industry began in 1986, when he started playing in bands. A significant milestone in his career was in 1996, when he joined the band Bigwig. With Bigwig, Matt toured extensively across the United States and Canada, performing in over 625 shows. His contributions to the band included recording two albums and several tracks for other major label records.

Following his tenure with Bigwig, Matt transitioned to a role as a drum technician for The Ataris, a well-known major label band. This position took him on tours across the United States, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, and more. After his time with The Ataris, he joined The Starting Line, a band that toured throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. During this period, The Starting Line’s touring schedule gradually decreased, which led Matt to return home in 2008.

Upon his return, Matt embarked on a new career path as a drum instructor, focusing on teaching and educating in drumming. He has been dedicated to this role since then. Throughout his career, Matt has shared the stage with renowned artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, Audioslave, Smashing Pumpkins, Rise Against, The Offspring, Blink-182, and many others. He has also been involved in performances on popular shows like Jay Leno, MTV Smash Live, and Jimmy Fallon.

In recognition of his expertise, Matt has received endorsements from prestigious companies and organizations. These include Cadeson Drum Co., Promark Drumsticks, Los Cabos Drumsticks, Zildjian Cymbals, and Joel Rothman’s drum tutorial books. A notable accolade in his career is being recognized as a drum teacher by Drumeo, the largest and world-famous online drum community, and by Sabian Cymbals.

In recent years, Matt has shifted his focus from touring as a drum technician to dedicating all his time and energy to being a drum educator and teacher, a role he passionately embraces.
