
Ryan Weber, Ph.D., Executive Director, is a musicologist and Associate Professor of Medical Humanities at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. His research interests include the aesthetics of pain, music and medicine, the history of nutrition, and disability studies. He has lectured widely throughout the United States and Europe, including Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Ireland, and France. Dr. Weber has published on a wide range of topics in numerous academic journals throughout the United States, Europe, and Australia.
His book Cosmopolitanism and Transatlantic Circles in Music and Literature (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-030-01860-3 ) examines the life of Edvard Grieg and Percy Grainger as well as their relationships to contemporary literary figures. He has also published articles and book chapters on topics related to the medical humanities and medical education.
Before his appointment at GCSOM, he was the Chair of Fine Arts and Program Director of Medical Humanities at Misericordia University where he also served as Associate Chair of the Honors Program and received the Louis and Barbara Alesi Excellence in Scholarship Award.
